Colorado Monument • Anniversary

If you’ve wandered through my website and blog, you will probably recognize this beautiful woman. This is my sister Jodi and her husband Jayden.

This past week I got to meet my family up in Colorado and spend some time with them. Whenever we’re together I try to make sure I get Jodi and Jayden some updated family photos if possible because they are a blast to shoot! So I asked if we could head up to The Monument which is one of my all time favorite places to explore and shoot at. I have shot a surprise proposal and I have shots our family photos here before my brother left on his mission to Alaska!

I loved the light we had this specific night. It’s a little cloudy with the sun peeking through every couple minutes. As you can see it was stunning! I love Jodi‘s yellow dress. I felt like it was perfect for the backdrop we had. Little Myla-Jade is now two years old and I love her! She is so much fun to hang out with. MJ talks so much. I love seeing her be so talkative, especially for a two years old. I feel like I can have complete conversations with her.

I’ve honestly never been much of a baby person or a kid person in general. I usually avoid holding babies and kids and they were never a fan of me either. But when Myla-Jade first called me KeKe (that’s now my aunt name) I was hooked! She was one of the first kids who actually would come up to me and want to me to hold her. It has always been so special to me.

Enjoy my favorite Anniversary photos of Jodi and Jayden in Colorado! Their family photos are toward the end! (Saving the best for last!)

Shoot and Share 2018

2018 was my fourth year entering the annual Shoot and Share Contest. I throughly enjoy the Shoot and Share contest because it's unbiased and anonymous, (unless, of course, you've seen the photos before). I can send the link to friends and family because anyone can vote! And it gets pretty addicting.

Finalist badges are given to the Top 3.5% of the entire contest. That includes all the photos entered! Top 30%, 20%, and 10% are given for each category, such as engagements, portraits, family, etc.

This is an annual, world-wide photo contest. In 2018, 412,379 photos were submitted, and over 75 MILLION votes were cast by 124,894 people from 130 different countries! 24 of JayCee Photography's photos received badges in 2018.

Austin + Ashley • Kelly Canyon

At Case family reunions, Austin was the quiet one. He kept to himself for the majority of time even during Case game nights. And in order to get him to talk, you had to ask him direct questions. I saw him and Ashley were getting pretty serious and I was so excited to hear they were engaged! Austin got ahold of me within a week of the engagement and we planned their session for the next weekend.
I won't lie, I was nervous! I'm all about drawing out emotions and being interactive during my sessions. And my shoots do require quite a bit of talking. With Austin being my cousin and not hearing more than a few words from him over a week at a time, I wondered how I was going to get him to smile and have fun during our session.
Thank goodness he's marrying Ashley because she literally brings out the absolute best in him! I heard Austin talk more in the first five minutes of our session, than I've heard him say at all our family reunions combined! And they both had me laughing more than I think I've ever laughed at a session before! Since Ashley is a dancer, I loved watching them slow dance. I could tell it's something they'd been working on. Congrats Austin and Ashley!
